The poster boy of content-driven cinema, Ayushmann Khurrana, has done it again. His latest release, Article 15 has crossed 50 crore mark at the box-office. This is his fifth hit in a row after Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Andhadhun (2018) and Badhaai Ho (2018). On the success of his cop drama, Article 15, Ayushmann said, “The success of Article 15 tells me that I’m on the right track and choosing the right films that stand for quality. I have always wanted to tell audiences the best story and entertain them with scripts that I have loved reading. I have been backing projects instinctively, keeping only one thing in mind, which is, every single time they watch my film, I want them to come out of the theatres and say, they watched a good movie. I want to see them entertained and I want them to define me based on the kind of movies I do and stand for.”
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Ayushmann’s Article 15 is a socio-political drama inspired by true events. The film deals with inequality, discrimination and the caste system in the country.
Ayushmann played the part of a cop, Ayan Ranjan, in the film. Talking about the film, he further added, “I’m truly humbled with the response that Article 15 has been getting. It’s a brave, bold film intended at starting a social conversation and I’m glad that it is doing so well. I thank my director Anubhav Sinha for making me a part of his vision. Five back to back hits only increased my sense of responsibility in giving people better content that stands out. I’m currently being challenged creatively by film-makers and it’s great collaborating with some of the finest.”
On the work front, post Article 15, Ayushmann has Dream Girl, Bala and Gulabo Sitabo in his kitty. We can’t wait to watch this stellar performer on the big screen again, what about you?
